Sean Corbett retired from the Royal Air Force in September 2018 after a 30-year career as a professional intelligence officer, where he reached the pinnacle of his profession. He then established a Defence, Security and Intelligence Directorate within a 'new space' geospatial intelligence company, Earth-i, where he advanced innovative Al applications to earth observation data in support of the defence and security sector, and instigated the concept of 'intelligence as a service', leveraging a wide spectrum of publicly available information to answer challenging questions for the community. In October 2019, he set up his own business as a consultant specialising in the provision of strategic advice, commercial intelligence, the space sector, and the optimisation of organisational leadership and change management.

Ritu Gill is an Intelligence Analyst with 17 years of experience working in open-source intelligence (OSINT). After a 12-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Ritu set up a consulting business providing OSINT training and research to law enforcement and related entities across North America. In 2023 Ritu Co-founded, Forensic OSINT, a screen capture tool.

Ritu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and is actively involved in the OSINT community.

James Rands joined Janes in 2018 after a career as an infantry officer in the British Army. He served in Kosovo, Macedonia, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. He has served on attachment with the USMC and the Netherlands Airborne Brigade. For much of his career he worked in intelligence. James joined Janes as the C4ISR manager but recently moved to country intelligence where he is the senior military capabilities analyst. James holds a bachelor degree in War Studies from King’s College London and masters in Philosophy from the Open University. He continues to serve as a reservist.

Maria Lampoudi holds a master's degree in international security. She was previously the Africa analyst on the Janes' Military Capabilities desk. She joined Janes in 2019, coming from the European External Action Service's mission to the Philippines, where she worked as a political officer, covering the Mindanao peace process and developments in the South China Sea. Maria also worked as a research assistant at the Bureau of the Greek Defense attache in France and at the NATO Energy Security Center of Excellence in Lithuania. She speaks Greek, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, and Spanish.

However, ensuring that the open sources can be trusted and are assured is critical to maintaining strategic advantage.

Phil Ritcheson, Ph.D is a former Senior Executive with proven leadership experience in positions of increasing scope, responsibility, and authority at the Executive Office of the President, in the Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD), and at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Phil is a change agent who seeks integrated, enterprise-wide effects, has managed crises and missions, and modernized capabilities at the Agency and IC level. He has broad expertise in: national level policy development and strategic planning; regional political-military affairs; DoD and national intelligence issues; providing intelligence support to operational elements; national security and commercial space; technology development and application; and in allied and partner operational and intelligence environments. He has extensively worked on a variety of geopolitical, international security, and national security issues with the interagency, the Congress, allies and partners, industry, and academia. Phil is also a retired naval intelligence officer with strategic and operational intelligence experience in targeting, analysis, and collection operations.

Elliot joined Janes' Central Analysis Team in December 2020 before helping to stand up Janes Country Intelligence, beginning in August 2021. Before working at Janes Elliot worked for a political risk advisory firm focused on emerging markets. Prior to this Elliot worked as a researcher and producer for for military technology events. Elliot's work involves closely monitoring and analysis of Israeli security operations and Palestinian militant activity. Elliot also served in the British Army Reserves.

During the podcast Harry, Sean and Dr Ingvild explore how AI is being used today to supplement or delegate not only motor skills but also cognitive skills. They also explore how AI plays a role in how decisions are made about specific aspects of the targeting process.

Dr Ingvild Bode is Associate Professor at the Centre for War Studies, University of Southern Denmark. She is the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council-funded project AutoNorms which investigates how practices related to autonomous and AI technologies in weapon systems change international norms. Ingvild also serves as the co-chair of the IEEE Research Group on issues of AI and Autonomy in Defence Systems. Her work has been widely published in the form of journal articles, books with leading publishers, and policy reports. Her most recent policy report, Loitering Munitions and Unpredictability: Autonomy in Weapon Systems and Challenges to Human Control, co-authored with Dr Tom Watts, offers a detailed examination of one particular type of weapon system integrating autonomous and AI technologies in targeting.
